چکیده

Teragrid resources are often used when high-performance computing is required. We describe our experiences in using Teragrid resources in a high-throughput manner, generating a significant number of CPU cycles over a long time span. In particular, we discuss using Teragrid resources as part of a larger computational grid to perform computations in an ongoing attempt to solve an open problem in mathematical coding theory—the Football Pool Problem.

A small high-bandwidth ATM switch

The Tiny Tera is an all-CMOS 320 Gbps, input-queued ATM switch suitable for nonATM applications such as the core of an Internet router. The Tiny Tera efficiently supports both unicast and multicast traffic. Instead of using optical switching technology, we achieve a high switching-bandwidth by using less expensive and proven CMOS technology. Because of limitations in memory and interconnectionb...

Datacenter-on-Chip Architectures: Tera-scale Opportunities and Challenges in Intel's Manufacturing Environment

We have entered an era of chip multiprocessor (CMP) platforms, where performance is delivered with the integration of more and more cores on a die. Tera-scale CMP architectures, consisting of several tens of physical cores and hundreds of hardware threads, are highly suitable for throughput computing especially in the server market place. In this paper, we start by highlighting tera-scale poten...

Symbiotic Jobscheduling on the Tera MTA

Symbiosis is a term from biology meaning the living together of dissimilar organisms in close proximity. We adapt that term to refer to an increase in throughput that can occur when jobs are coscheduled on multithreaded machines. On a multithreaded machine such as the Tera MTA (Multithreaded Architecture) coscheduled jobs share system resource very intimately on a cycle by cycle basis. This can...

The Tiny Tera:1 A Packet Switch Core

In this paper, we present the Tiny Tera: a small packet switch with an aggregate bandwidth of 320Gb/s. The Tiny Tera is a CMOS-based input-queued, fixed-size packet switch suitable for a wide range of applications such as a highperformance ATM switch, the core of an Internet router or as a fast multiprocessor interconnect. Using off-the-shelf technology, we plan to demonstrate that a very highb...

A Low-Power High-speed Smart Sensor Design for Space Exploration Missions

A low-power high-speed smart sensor system based on a large format active pixel sensor (APS) integrated with a programmable neural processor for space exploration missions is presented. The concept of building an advanced smart sensing system is demonstrated by a system-level microchip design that is composed with an APS sensor, a programmable neural processor, and an embedded microprocessor in...
